A woman riding a bicycle was killed by a motorist in Lakewood on Sunday, who then struck a telephone pole and was later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sgt. G. Acosta of the sheriff’s Lakewood Station.
The crash in the 11700 block of Del Amo Boulevard happened about 2 a.m., Acosta said.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Emmanuel Camacho, was being held at the Lakewood Station in lieu of $100,000 bail and was due in court on Tuesday in Bellflower, according to sheriff’s online jail records.
He was arrested after being taken to a hospital.
