A motorist killed in a two-vehicle crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Long Beach was identified Monday as a 27-year-old Bell Gardens man.

Luis Paredes-Casimiro died at the scene of the accident, which was reported at 12:15 a.m. Sunday on the northbound 405 Freeway near Cherry Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Paredes-Casimiro was driving a 1990 Honda that hit a curb on the right side of the freeway that divides the exit lane from the 405’s main four lanes.

The Honda then swerved left across all four lanes of the freeway, hit the center median wall and stopped in the path of a 2013 Toyota, the CHP reported.

The Toyota’s driver, a 25-year-old Duarte resident, was not injured in the collision.
