Compton fire

One person was hospitalized for breathing problems after firefighters extinguished a fire inside an apartment building in Compton Friday morning, a dispatcher said.

The blaze inside a building in the 700 block of Laurel Avenue was reported at 1:58 a.m., a Compton Fire Department dispatcher said.

The flames were extinguished 28 minutes later and one person was transported to a hospital for treatment of breathing problems, the dispatcher added. The person’s current condition was unknown. No other injuries were reported.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department sent one engine to the scene in a support role.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation by the Compton Fire Department.
