Sheriff’s deputies conducted a DUI/License checkpoint Saturday morning in Santa Clarita that netted 15 arrests and two vehicle impounds, a captain said.

The checkpoint was conducted between 6 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday at Lyons Avenue, just east of Wheeler Road, said sheriff’s Capt. Shaun Mathers.

Deputies stopped 1,489 drivers at the checkpoint, according to Mathers. Ten unlicensed drivers were arrested. Two others were jailed for driving with a suspended or revoked licenses, and one arrested for failing to have a court- ordered ignition interlock device on his vehicle.

Two vehicles were also impounded for 30 days, Mathers said.

Funding for these operations was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
