A 30-year-old woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Pomona who was later arrested.

The collision at the intersection of Garey Avenue and Rio Rancho Road, was reported at 8:32 p.m. Friday, Pomona Police Sgt. Vincent Terrell said.

Responding officers found that Lindsey Ann Prieto of Pomona had been hit by a car while crossing the street, Terrell said. Prieto died at the scene.

Witnesses gave police a description of the hit-and-run vehicle. This led officers to a residence in Ontario where they arrested 29-year-old Christopher Acosta, Terrell said. He was booked at the Pomona jail on a felony charge of hit-and-run causing injury or death.

Acosta was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to go to court in Pomona on Tuesday at 8 a.m., according to county jail records.

The collision shut down the intersection for more than five hours during the investigation, Terrell said.
