Authorities on Thursday circulated images of a man suspected of switching scanning labels on expensive breast pumps with those of much cheaper models at Target stores in the Los Angeles County area.
The Medela brand pumps range in price from $170 to $400, according to the sheriff’s department.
Loss prevention personnel recently saw the man leaving a store with pumps and approached him just before he exited, but the suspect became combative, physically assaulted the officer and ran out of the store, authorities said.
The suspect is white, 45-55 years old, 6 feet 1 inch tall and 250 pounds, with brown hair and a mustache.
In surveillance images, he was seen wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, gray undershirt, blue jeans and a black belt.
His vehicle is a silver SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee, with a rear hitch rack.
Anyone with information about the suspect was urged to contact the detective handling the case at (661) 272-2472. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
