Four men were detained Saturday morning after a fight erupted between the men, two of whom were allegedly intoxicated, on a Metro Red Line boarding platform at the Universal City subway stop.
The brouhaha was reported to the sheriff’s Transit Service Bureau at 1:30 a.m., said Los Angeles Sheriff’s Lt. Mark Lucio. The sheriff’s department is contracted to provide policing services to L.A. County Metro and Metrolink.
“There were four individuals involved in a fight – two black males and two Hispanic males,” Lucio said. “The fight was downstairs on the platform. One of Hispanic men brandished a knife, but one of the black males punched him and knocked him out.”
The man who pulled the knife was transported to a hospital, Lucio said.
“We detained all four men but will probably only arrest two of them, the two Hispanic males,” Lucio continued. “They were intoxicated and they apparently started the fight.”
Lucio said the injured suspect was still at the hospital as of 2 a.m. and neither Hispanic suspect had been booked yet.
No other subway patrons were injured, according to Lucio.
