An overnight driver’s license/sobriety checkpoint in Lancaster netted 28 arrests, a police sergeant said Saturday.

The checkpoint at Avenue I near Date Avenue began at 6 p.m. Friday and ended Saturday at 2 a.m., said Sgt. Daniel A. Dail of the Sheriff’s Traffic Services Detail.

During the checkpoint, a motorist was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, 16 unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court, eight motorists driving with a suspended or revoked license were arrested and sent to court, and two suspects were arrested for warrants, Dail said.

Two vehicles were stored one day, eight vehicles were impounded for 30 days and 14 vehicles were released per checkpoint release procedures, he said.
