A person was struck and killed Saturday morning by a Union Pacific freight train in Glendale.
The collision between the train and the pedestrian at the intersection of San Fernando Road and Kellogg Avenue was reported at 2:16 a.m., said Glendale Police Sgt. Ernie Gaxiola.
“I don’t know yet whether it was a man or a woman, our investigators are still at the scene,” he said. “We also don’t know the cause yet – whether it was a suicide or an accident.”
The person’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Gaxiola said the train was stopped at the site as of 4 a.m. for the death investigation.
A news photographer at the scene said Union Pacific’s company police force also had officers at the site.
