A fire scorched about two acres of brush in the Newhall area Monday, but no structures were threatened.
Firefighters sent to the area near the southbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway just north of the Golden State (5) Freeway about 12:10 p.m. contained the flames in an hour and 10 minutes, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.
Some firefighters remained on scene dousing hot spots.
