It took firefighters about 40 minutes to put out flames in a Monterey Park home with packrat conditions early Tuesday, a fire captain said.
The first call about the fire came in at 1:21 a.m. in the 800 block of Hershey Avenue, said Monterey Park Fire Capt. Matt Hallock. Flames were out at about 2 a.m.
One occupant got out right away but raised concern about his roommate, Hallock said. The man was accounted for. The house was a total loss due to the packrat conditions inside, he said.
