This shooting, one of two involving LAPD officers Tuesday night, took place about 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, near the intersection of 59th Street and Broadway, said LAPD spokeswoman Officer Liliana Preciado.
According to Preciado, officers were in the area conducting an operation. They attempted to make a pedestrian stop on the suspect but he ran away. It’s unknown what led police to try to stop the man. There was no immediate confirmation that a weapon was recovered at the scene. It’s also was not known whether the officers were wearing any kind of body camera when the OIS occurred.
The OIS was being investigated by the department’s Use of Force Division and the L.A. County District Attorney’s office.
