Felony charges were filed Thursday against a 20-year-old Riverside man accused of being the getaway driver in multiple convenience store robberies on two separate days.

Richard Gomez-Quiroz, who is scheduled to be arraigned June 3 on four counts of second-degree robbery, posted $50,000 bail and was released today, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Brock Zimmon.

Gomez-Quiroz’s suspected cohort in the robberies was in custody in San Bernardino County on unrelated charges, Zimmon said.

The robbery series started about 11 p.m. April 7. The defendant was behind the wheel in a heist at a Chevron gas station in Orange, Zimmon alleged. About 30 minutes later, he was allegedly the getaway driver in a robbery at a Mobil gas station in Santa Ana, the prosecutor said.

About 30 minutes later, a 7-Eleven store was robbed in Newport Beach and Gomez-Quiroz was allegedly the getaway driver in that heist, Zimmon said.

He’s also accused of involvement in a fourth robbery that occurred May 1 at the same Chevron station in Orange, Zimmon said.
