Two people were killed and two other people suffered traumatic injuries Saturday when a speeding car flew off a freeway at an interchange in the City of Industry.
The crash was at 2:43 a.m. on the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway, at its interchange with the 605 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol incident report.
The motorist, Diego Martinez, 24, of Ontario, had been speeding east on the 60 in a 2006 Toyota Scion TC, when he lost control of the car.
It swerved to the right, and across all lanes, then went into the dirt gore point and hit a tree, according to a CHP report.
Paramedics were dispatched at 3:08 a.m. and rushed two people with “traumatic” injuries to a hospital, said a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher. The driver, Martinez, was one of them, and the other was a 45-year- old woman, also from Ontario, and both suffered major injuries, according to the CHP.
The dispatcher said two other people were pronounced dead at the scene: a 23-year-old woman from Ontario, and a 49-year-old man from Baldwin Park. Their names will be released pending notification of next of kin, said Coroner’s Lt. Dave Smith.
