A big rig hauling a load of glass overturned Monday, resulting in the closure of a freeway transition road in the Boyle Heights area for about five hours and creating a traffic nightmare for thousands of commuters.
The crash, which occurred about 6 a.m., closed the transition from the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway to the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway while crews worked to remove the wreckage and clear the scene, the California Highway Patrol reported.
All lanes were reopened about 11 a.m.
The trucker suffered minor cuts and was treated at the scene, the CHP reported.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
