Four men were in custody Tuesday and a fifth was being sought after a high-speed vehicle pursuit through downtown L.A. streets.

California Highway Patrol officers reported a suspected stolen Dodge Charger was driven on a sidewalk in downtown Tuesday as they gave chase. Los Angeles Police Sgt. David Martinez said the pursuit reached speeds of more than 100 miles-per-hour on freeways. He said Martinez said he did not know where or when the vehicle was reported stolen.

Five gang members were in the vehicle, police said.

The pursuit ended with the vehicle stopping in a parking lot and its occupants fleeing near the 1200 block of West Olympic Boulevard in the Pico- Union area around 3 a.m.

Four of the suspects were taken into custody soon after. One attempted to break into a residence as he was being pursued, Martinez said.

Broadcast footage showed a man who appeared to have been involved in the incident being placed in an ambulance.
