A Union Pacific freight train was stopped in Sylmar Wednesday when a conductor discovered a possible explosive device on board.
The train stopped just before 2 p.m. near San Fernando Road and Roxford Street, according to Los Angeles police Officer Jack Richter.
Los Angeles police were stopping traffic in the area, and a bomb squad was sent to the scene. But Richter said Union Pacific has its own security force and would be conducting the investigation.
