A Boston-bound American Airlines flight safely returned to Los Angeles International Airport Friday afternoon after the pilot reported a mechanical problem in the cockpit, an airport spokeswoman said.
Flight 202, a Boeing 737 with 151 people aboard, landed on south runway 25R about 2:15 p.m., said LAX spokeswoman Nancy Castles.
The exact nature of the problem was not disclosed.
The jetliner departed LAX at 1:10 p.m. and had been due in Boston at 5 p.m. PDT, according to FlightAware.com.
