An EVA Air flight with more than 300 passengers landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport Tuesday afternoon after a telephonic threat was made.
Flight 12 from Taipei to Los Angeles landed about 3:30 p.m. and the plane was immediately taken to a remote location to be searched, but details were sketchy.
The FBI issued a statement saying: “Bureau and airport officials are investigating a telephonic threat to an aircraft incoming to LAX. All threats, regardless of known credibility, are taken seriously.”
The LAPD’s bomb squad was sent to the scene. Other federal security officials were also on hand.
By 5:30 p.m., the passengers, who had already endured a 14-hour flight, were allowed to get off the plane. Dogs were on scene sniffing at their luggage.
