Los Angeles County firefighters Wednesday extinguished a stubborn blaze that gutted a residence near Palmdale but caused no injuries, authorities said.
The fire in the single-story structure in the 400 block of Desert Springs Road was reported around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervising Dispatcher Michael Pittman.
About four dozen firefighters extinguished the flames about 1:15 a.m. today, Pittman said. Light winds and the distance from the nearest hydrant compounded the difficulty of fighting the fire, Pittman said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation. A damage estimate was not immediately available
