Firefighters Thursday encountered packrat conditions and “multiple cats,” one of which was found dead, in battling an El Sereno house blaze that left two people injured.
Firefighters sent to the 5100 block of O Sullivan Drive at 11:18 a.m. extinguished the flames in 27 minutes, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Paramedics transported two people for hospital treatment of smoke inhalation, he said.
Firefighters found “multiple cats” at the scene, and one died, according to Scott.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
