A man accused of fatally shooting one of his neighbors in Hawthorne was charged Thursday with murder.
Christopher Fennelle, 25, is accused in the Tuesday killing of 23-year-old Cruise Skipps, who collapsed and died on a sidewalk after being shot in an apartment in the 13000 block of South Prairie Avenue.
In addition to murder, Fennelle was also charged with negligent discharge of a firearm, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
He is expected to be arraigned this afternoon at the Airport Branch Courthouse.
Sheriff’s officials said Fennelle was at home when Skipps and another neighbor — a 25-year-old woman — came to his apartment and an argument ensued. Fennelle allegedly produced a rifle and began shooting at the two, though the nature of the argument was not immediately disclosed, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The woman, whose name was not released, was uninjured.
