San Marino police Monday said the parents of a 16-year-old girl who disappeared and ran away because of pressure she felt has contacted her family to say she was “alright.”

According to KNX-AM (1070), Mira Hu, a San Marino High School student contacted her family last night via Facebook.

The girl who lives in San Marino was dropped off at Arcadia High School Saturday at 7:30 a.m. to take the SAT college admissions exam, then sent her brother a message saying she felt overwhelmed and was running away.

“A short time after it was discovered she was gone, she sent a message to her brother indicating that she was running away because she was overwhelmed by school and this exam,” according to an Arcadia police statement. She was not there when her parents came to pick her up.

Police do not suspect foul play.

“It’s a straight runaway at this time,” an Arcadia police watch commander said. She is Asian, 5 feet 3, 95 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black jacket, black jeans and was carrying a large navy backpack when she was dropped off at the school.

Anyone with information regarding Mira’s whereabouts was urged to call San Marino police at (626) 300-0720. San Marino police took over the case from Arcadia police who initially handled it.
