Police circulated a photo of a man who stole two video cameras worth $300 from a Torrance business, but not before his image was stored by the surveillance system.

The cameras were stolen on April 19 around 7 a.m. from the northeast side of a business in the 1900 block of Border Avenue. But the image of the suspect was stored on equipment to which the cameras were remotely connected said Sgt. Paul Kranke of the Torrance Police Department.

The suspect apparently perched on a brick wall about 5 feet tall to get access to the cameras, Kranke said.

The suspect, whose face is clearly visible because he was so close to the cameras he was stealing, was described as a Hispanic or white, with a light complexion, dark hair and eyes and a medium build.

He was wearing a gray sweatshirt with the hood puled over his head and dark-colored pants and shoes.

Anyone with information about his identity was asked to call Torrance police at (310) 618-5641.
