An 11-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle while riding a skateboard in South Gate died Thursday of his injuries, police reported.
The boy was hit about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday as attempted to cross Firestone Boulevard between San Luis and San Juan avenues, according to South Gate police Capt. Darren Arakawa.
He died at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, Arakawa said.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the boy stopped at the scene of the crash, according to the captain, who said the crash investigation is ongoing.
The South Gate boy’s name was not immediately released.
