The driver of a Long Beach Transit bus was trapped for nearly two hours and six passengers injured in a collision with a pickup truck in Lakewood on Wednesday.

The collision occurred at Woodruff Avenue and Centralia Street in Lakewood at 6:11 p.m., said a dispatcher for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The driver was freed at 7:51 p.m. The driver’s condition was not known.

KCAL9 reported the driver was talking when he was put into an ambulance.

The collision sent the bus careering into a light pole, the dispatcher said.

Five ambulances were on scene. Five people, including the driver, were taken to a hospital.
