A female clerk at a Big Lots store in South Los Angeles was shot during an attempted robbery Tuesday afternoon.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department‘s 77th Street Division were called to the store near Slauson Avenue and Manhattan Pace at 2:05 p.m.
The clerk was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening wounds, said LAPD Officer Jane Kim. She was listed in stable condition.
She was shot during a struggle with the suspect when he demanded money from her cash register. She was shot several times.
The suspect was described as a man in his late 40s or 50s. Detectives could not confirm the kind of vehicle he used.
The shooter remained at large early Tuesday night. It was not known what type of handgun he used.
