Los Angeles Police Department personnel are mobilizing to replace a 9-year-old boy’s leg braces, which were stolen from his mother’s vehicle in the South Los Angeles area, an officer said Wednesday.
Analilia Ramirez discovered her son’s braces missing about 6:30 a.m. on June 9, along with other items.
“The unknown suspect stole several items, including the vehicle battery and miscellaneous tools worth over $250,” LAPD Officer Jack Richter said.”However, the most important items stolen were her child’s expensive orthopedic leg braces.
“After learning that the young boy’s braces were taken from him, and that he relies on them for walking, the officers and other LAPD personnel have organized efforts to replace the braces the child needs to be fully mobile,” Richter said.
Police did not disclose where in South L.A. the theft occurred.
