A young child was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured in Watts on Sunday.
It happened just after 7 p.m. in the 1900 block of East Imperial Highway, near Willowbrook Avenue, police told a news videographer at the scene.
The child, who was less than five years old, was struck by a BMW that stopped at the crash scene, police told the videographer.
The child was freed from beneath the car and taken to a hospital with severe injuries, authorities said.
Police said the youngster had been at a family gathering in the area.
