A vehicle crashed over the side of Malibu Canyon Road north of Pacific Coast Highway today, killing the driver and igniting a small brush fire, authorities said.
The crash was reported about 11:20 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The body was found in the vehicle, according to Capt. Keith Mora of the county fire department. The gender and age of the person were not immediately reported.
Firefighters worked this afternoon to recover the body, and to ensure that the two-acre brush fire was fully extinguished. A firefighter suffered a minor injury at the scene.
A section of Malibu Canyon Road was closed between PCH and Piuma Road.
