Two suspects were taken into custody after a no-hit deputy-involved shooting in Compton, authorities said Sunday.

No deputies or suspects were struck by gunfire in the shooting, which happened about 10:20 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of North Tajauta Avenue, Deputy Crystal Hernandez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

Deputies from the Compton Station saw an illegally parked vehicle that was blocking traffic and attempted to speak with those inside, but three suspects fled on foot, Hernandez said.

“One of the suspects retrieved a firearm, at which time a deputy- involved shooting occurred,” Hernandez said.

That suspect continued to flee, but was apprehended, along with a second suspect, during a perimeter search, and firearm was also recovered, she said.

A news videographer at the scene said a SWAT team and deputies with K-9s participated in the search.

The third suspect who fled the vehicle remained at large, Hernandez said.
