A car that may have been driven by a man trying to run down his girlfriend crashed into the front of a restaurant in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, but there were no reports of injuries.
The crash was reported at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at 345 N. La Brea Ave., said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The address corresponds to the East India Grill.
A worker there said the restaurant was open at the time of the crash and remains so, with most of the damage limited to a patio area where no one was seated when the car slammed into it.
Some tables were smashed, the employee said.
Firefighters were at the scene for a short time and no one was hospitalized, Stewart said.
It’s unclear what caused the crash, but witness Gem Aggabao said she heard screeching tires and a woman screaming that her boyfriend was driving the car, ABC7 reported.
According to Aggabao, the woman said she had argued with her boyfriend at a gas station and he threatened her when she started to walk away, said ABC7, which reported that the man fled after the crash.
The Los Angeles Police Department‘s West Traffic Division was investigating.
