A brush fire that started with a house fire on the Ridge Route close to the Golden State (5) Freeway and Lake Hughes Monday was fully contained by nearly 100 firefighters in less than an hour.

The fire was originally reported at 5:27 p.m. at a home at 33100 Ridge Route Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A contingent of nearly 100 firefighters were sent to the scene when it was reported the fire had spread to brush near the home.

By the time the fire was 100 percent contained, it had destroyed the house and burned less than three acres, the dispatcher said at 6:20 p.m.
