A 19-year-old man must spend a year in county jail, followed by a year in an anger management program, for a road rage attack on a senior citizen, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Gordon Cornelius Fritz of Baldwin Village was also sentenced Tuesday to five years formal probation following his no contest plea to a felony elder abuse charge, according to Deputy District Attorney Philip Norris.
Fritz’s vehicle crashed against the 83-year-old victim’s car on March 31 on the Century (105) Freeway, leading to yelling and honking, the prosecutor said.
Fritz began punching the octogenarian in the face after the two pulled to the side of the road, Norris said.
The man, whose name was not released, pulled off the freeway and into a convenience store parking lot, where he was followed and punched again by Fritz, according to the prosecutor.
The attack was witnessed by nearby police officers.
