An oil spill from a big rig that overturned and caught fire shut down all northbound lanes of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway for about eight hours in the Palmdale area Thursday.
The crash occurred on the 14 Freeway just north of Pearblossom Highway about 3:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The truck veered off the roadway, overturned and caught fire, the CHP reported.
The resulting oil spill covered the northbound lanes, making driving conditions hazardous, according to the CHP. The cleanup was completed and all lanes reopened about noon.
No injuries were reported.
