An event caterer was apparently just doing his job at a loud weekend party when he was shot dead – and two others were wounded – in the Westmont community of unincorporated Los Angeles County.

Deputies were dispatched to the 11100 block of Berendo Avenue at 11 p.m. Saturday after receiving complaints about a wild party. When they arrived at the scene, the deputies found the caterer’s bloody body and the other wounded victims, said Deputy Mike Barraza of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A man shot in the upper torso was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a member of a catering company called All Flavor No Grease.

A second man suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital. His condition was not immediately known. A third man suffered a gunshot wound, but refused medical treatment, Barraza said.

Witnesses said they heard seven to eight shots, then saw a man run behind some apartment buildings and into an alley.

There were no other details available.
