An explosion in an electrical vault on the southwest side of UCLA Tuesday knocked out power to some customers in the Westwood area, including a swath of the campus.

The problem in a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power vault was reported about 11:45 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. No one was hurt.

Portions of the UCLA campus were placed on backup power while repairs were made, according to the university.

DWP officials said all power was restored at 1:35 p.m.

The cause of the blast was under investigation. It was not immediately known exactly how many customers were affected.
