A man was killed in a gang-related shooting in the unincorporated Westmont area Friday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s department.
Deputies responded to a shots fired-assault with a deadly weapon call in the 9600 block of Normandie Avenue about 1:50 p.m. and found the victim, who had been shot in the upper body, lying on a sidewalk, Deputy Sara Rodriguez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.
No suspect or vehicle information was made available, but detectives believe the shooting was gang-related, Rodriguez said.
