Police on Sunday were investigating the death of a man who dropped from an overpass and was struck by a vehicle on the Pasadena (110) Freeway in the Cypress Park area north of downtown Los Angeles.

The victim was found about 7:55 p.m. Saturday in the left lane of the northbound side of the freeway beneath the Avenue 26 bridge, Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Officers who responded to a possible suicide jumper learned that the man had been struck by a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations section.

It was undetermined Sunday, however, if the man indeed committed suicide or was the victim of an accident or homicide, according to Lopez.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the man stopped at the scene and was traumatized by the gruesome experience, Lopez said.
