The coroner’s office Monday released the names of the two attackers killed in a shootout with a Montebello store owner.

They were 23-year-old Kevin Fierro of Los Angeles and 21-year-old Roger Soriano whose city of residence was not available.

The condition of the store owner was not immediately known, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to the Montebello Police Department.

Officers dispatched to the 2100 block of West Whittier Boulevard at approximately 12:18 a.m. Saturday found one of the suspects suffering from several gunshot wounds, according to the news statement.

The second suspect was later located in the 100 block of North Wilcox Avenue, suffering from a single gunshot wound, according to the statement.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scenes, said Coroner’s Investigator Joyce Kato.

Both suspects had been armed with handguns when they tried to rob the business owner. During the robbery, one of the suspects fired several shots at the victim, striking him once, according to police.

The victim fired shots and struck both suspects.

“The victim’s name is being withheld at this time for his safety,” according to the department.

Montebello police detectives asked anyone with information regarding the robbery to call them at (323) 887-1313.
