A woman was treated for smoke inhalation following a fire Wednesday at her Hancock Park apartment that took the life of her dog, authorities said.
The fire was reported about 12:25 a.m. in the 500 block of North Rossmore Avenue and was knocked down about 20 minutes later, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
The woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, she said. “Sadly, (the) pet dog did not survive.”
The damage was estimated at $50,000 to the structure and $20,000 to the contents, Stewart said.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
