Lady Justice 3 16-9

Two brothers were sentenced Friday for the murder of a 7-year-old girl during a car-to-car shooting in Palmdale.

Lancaster Superior Court Judge Eric Harmon ordered Jesus Alberto Peralta, 24, to serve 125 years to life in prison and imposed a 46-years-to-life sentence on his brother, 21-year-old Carlos Peralta.

The two men, both of Palmdale, were convicted June 23 of one count each of first-degree murder and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, along with three counts of attempted murder. Jurors also found true gun allegations.

Desirae Macias was shot in the head Sept. 4, 2013, and died four days later after being taken off life support.

The shooting occurred near Sunburst and Stratford drives, shortly after the Peralta brothers confronted a man at a Palmdale gas station and issued a gang challenge.

The man left with his girlfriend and her two children, with the Peraltas in pursuit and firing several shots at the vehicle, according to Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Chung.

A sheriff’s deputy later stopped a vehicle matching one that was involved in the shooting, and the two men were arrested.
