The hunt was on Monday for the killer of two men in a mysterious shooting in Pacoima.

While witnesses said the three men initially appeared to be together, the killer suddenly pulled out a gun and began firing.

Spencer Herrera, 29 of Pacoima, and Mario Muro, 32, of North Hollywood, were pronounced dead at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center after being shot outside an apartment complex in the 12600 block of Pierce Street at 5:46 a.m. Sunday.

Police, who said it was unclear if the attack was gang-related, had made no arrests as of late Monday.

Witnesses told investigators the victims and the shooter appeared to be together, but the unidentified suspect suddenly pulled the gun and opened fire, according to a sergeant at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Station. No further details, including a possible motive, were immediately available.
