A construction worker died of apparent natural causes Monday in Universal City, authorities said.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics and sheriff’s deputies were sent to the 3900 block of Lankershim Boulevard shortly after 6 a.m.
When deputies arrived, paramedics were already performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the 46-year-old man, but he could not be revived.
“The man, a construction worker, died of apparent natural causes. His death is not the result of an industrial accident,” according to a sheriff’s statement.
Craig Harvey of the coroner’s office said Alberto Penunuri Jr. of Rialto was eating with co-workers when he suddenly slumped over. The exact cause of his death was pending an autopsy.
