Authorities Sunday were still trying to sort out how a family disturbance call spiraled into a fatal shooting in Norwalk.

A man in his 40s was shot and killed and one person – believed to be the shooter – was in custody, sheriff’s officials said.

The death was reported just after 1 p.m. Saturday in the 11400 block of Lindale Street, according to Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

Deputies responded to a family disturbance call and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound, Sgt. Jack Jordan of the sheriff’s Norwalk Station told the Whittier Daily News.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. A man believed to be the shooter was detained and no other suspects were being sought, Jordan told the newspaper.

Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives were dispatched to investigate the death, Navarro-Suarez said.
