Sheriff’s deputies Saturday were trying to figure out what happened when a man was shot and killed in Maywood and a second man was found shot in a leg at the same building.
Deputies responded about 12:10 p.m. Friday to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, later upgraded to a shooting, in the 5400 block of Atlantic Boulevard, two blocks south of the border with Vernon, Deputy Sara Rodriguez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.
When they arrived at the location the deputies found a man on the third floor of the building, suffering from a gunshot wound to his left leg, Rodriguez said. That man was taken to a hospital, where he was in stable condition, she said.
A second man, this one with a gunshot wound to the upper body, was located on the same floor and pronounced dead at the scene, Rodriguez said.
No suspect information was a available, she said.
