A man was shot and killed at a Metro Station in Boyle Heights, forcing Gold Line trains to temporarily bypass the station.

The shooting was reported about 7:15 p.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of First Street, at the Metro Gold Line’s Soto Station, Deputy Mike Barraza of the Los Angeles County Sheriff‘s Information Bureau said.

The victim was approached by three 20-year-old men by the street elevators of the station. An argument began. One of three suspects pulled out a handgun and shot the victim several times, Barraza said.

The suspects fled westbound on First Street and out of view. The victim was taken by the Los Angeles Fire Department to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Barraza said.

Metro reported that Gold Line trains were bypassing the station due to police activity.

Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives were investigating the killing since it happened at a Metro Station.
