Police on Tuesday released a composite drawing of a suspect — with blue dental braces — who scaled a chain linked fence in an attempt to snatch two children playing outside a South Los Angeles apartment complex.

Some other children began to scream while he was trying to carry the two children away. The suspect then dropped the children and ran away to an unknown location, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The 2- and 3-year-old children were playing with about five other children in the courtyard of an apartment complex in the 1700 block of South Westmoreland Boulevard, between Venice and Washington boulevards, during the abduction attempt that occurred about 6:50 p.m. Monday, police said.

The suspect was described as a 6-foot tall Latino man approximately 25 years old with black hair and brown eyes and weighing about 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a wide brimmed hat, dark sunglasses, a red T-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. He also had blue dental braces.

Anyone with information or who recognizes the suspect was urged to call the LAPD’s Olympic station at (213) 382-9460.
