A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed during a crash while racing another motorcyclist Wednesday in Canyon Country, authorities said.

It happened about 2:45 a.m. while the motorcyclist was speeding northbound on Whites Canyon Road, just north of Nadal Street, according to Sgt. Richard Cohen of the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley station.

The biker — who died at the scene — lost control of his vehicle and crashed along the east curb line, Cohen said.

The victim’s name was withheld, pending notification of kin, Lt. David Smith of the county coroner’s office said.

Detectives from the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley station asked anyone who saw the crash to call them at (661) 255-1121.
