A 20-year-old man was held in lieu of $1 million bail for reportedly stabbing his 49-year-old father to death Sunday inside their West Covina home.

Officers were dispatched a little after 3:35 a.m. on a 911 call from a resident in the 900 block of Las Rosas Drive. They found Joey Alfred Jimenez on the floor suffering from a stab wound, said Officer Rudy Lopez of the West Covina Police Department.

Arriving paramedics pronounced Jimenez dead at the scene, Lopez said.

Without releasing any details leading up to the action, police arrested Jimenez’s son, Maverick Jacob Jimenez, for the stabbing death, he said.

“The motive is still unclear,” Lopez said. “Detectives are still at the scene, as is the Forensic Investigation Unit of the West Covina Police Department.”
